East Ventures appoints startup founder Italo Gani as venture partner

Jakarta-based East Ventures has appointed its portfolio founder Italo Gani as a venture partner at the firm.

Gani began his entrepreneurial career in 1998 and has built many tech startups in Indonesia, such as advertising firm Adskom and marketing agency InboundID. He was also an advisor for artificial intelligence startup Nodeflux. Both Adskom and Nodeflux later got investment from East Ventures.

In 2019, Gani established and became managing partner at Impactto, a startup builder platform that has helped around 40 tech startups. He also actively supported several Indonesian government initiatives in startup space, such as Nexticorn and Startup Studio Indonesia by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics.

“Gani has been in the community since the genesis of Indonesia’s startup ecosystem. His knowledge and experiences will help the next generation of founders to avoid mistakes and pitfalls,” said Willson Cuaca, co-founder and managing partner of East Ventures.

Prior to Gani’s appointment, East Ventures already had eight partners. Cuaca as well as Batara Eto, Roderick Purwana, and Taiga Matsuyama serve as the firm’s managing partners. The other partners include Melisa Irene (seed partner), David Audy (operating partner), former minister Triawan Munaf (venture adviser), and former Temasek executive Koh Wai Kit (venture partner).
