    Twitter may create News Network

twitter-what-is-happeningTwitter has another plan and this time, it’s a news network. Twitter co-founder, Biz Stone hopes to leverage the vast quantities of information that it helps its users share to create a news network. He told Reuters. This news network would be in partnership with several existing news organizations and would be open, Stone said.

The idea could be a similar one to @EarlyBird, which now has over 200,000 followers looking for deals on Twitter. News network would be an additional service for users to receive quality news from a single Twitter handle.

We’re not sure what open means here. It could mean that any news organizations or even blogs would be able to share news through Twitter’s news network. But that wouldn’t add any value to current users since we are free to follow any news organizations. Surely, there will be some form of control and curation. If that’s the case, do news organizations have to pay to be included in the network? Or perhaps open means news are curated by users and would only appear if its resonance score reaches a certain level. Regardless which form it takes, the idea of having a news network on Twitter is an exciting one.

The news network would thrive under Twitter’s ability to quickly transmit news to its network and further probe into ‘What’s happening?’
