Trip.com partners with Dutch ticketing startup

Trip.com Group, a Shanghai-headquartered online travel provider, has announced its strategic partnership with Tiqets, a Netherlands-based platform for booking cultural and leisure experiences.

This alliance will enable Trip.com and CTrip users to directly book tours and activities at over 4,000 attractions and museums worldwide. Tiqets has also made similar deals with Apple Maps and MakeMyTrip.

Founded in 2014 by Luuc Elzinga, Tiqets is an online ticketing platform offering users access to cultural activities in the US, Europe, the Middle East, and the UK. Having sold over 20 million tickets worldwide, the company said that in the last year, its bookings have increased by 364% in the UK and 450% in the European Union.

Meanwhile, Trip.com Group is one of the largest global online travel agencies with over 400 million users worldwide. The firm was founded in 1999 by James Liang, Neil Shen, Min Fan, and Qi Ji.

The company recently partnered up with greentech firm Chooose to show users the carbon emissions that their orders generate and provide the option to offset them.

The partnership between Trip.com Group and Tiqets comes as the e-service industry is set to reach a market value of US$3.9 billion by 2026, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 11.9%.
