Singapore, South Korea are global leaders in 4G speeds and coverage

When it comes to breadth of coverage and speed, Singapore and South Korea are leaving the of the rest of the world in the dust.

A report from OpenSignal published today shows that Singapore’s 4G speeds of up to 40 Mbps (by carrier Singtel) are unrivaled in the world. Singaporeans can take a moment to congratulate themselves.

South Korea’s LG Telecom excelled in coverage. In OpenSignal’s measurement, this means LG subscribers receive 4G signal 99 percent of the time, no matter where they are.

Other countries with great coverage are Japan and Hong Kong, but their speeds fall behind Singapore’s and South Korea’s.

Non-Asian countries doing well in both coverage and speed are Denmark, the Netherlands, and Hungary.

Where’s developing Asia?

It’s obviously easier for smaller countries to offer a broad network coverage at good speeds. That’s a much harder feat to achieve for large countries like China, India, and the US.

Of these three vast countries, the US is actually doing really well in terms of coverage, China is doing ok, while India is far behind.
