Hello reader,

Over the last few weeks, there have been some discussions in Singapore about the significant proliferation of Chinese F&B businesses in the country. These are typically large food or beverage chains that open multiple outlets at once, and they have become extremely popular not just with the Chinese diaspora here but with locals as well.

It’s an interesting development, especially since the spread of Chinese influence in this manner began in the last few years or so. In some ways, it seems like China’s tech sector is having a similar experience, gaining not just respectability but popularity as well. This week’s top-funded company can attest to that.
