It’s no secret that games find themselves unavailable in Asian countries for a variety of reasons. Take Fallout 3 for instance, which never made it to India for offending cultural sensitivities, or that Pakistan banned Call of Duty: Black Ops II and _ Medal of Honor: Warfighter_ for portraying the country negatively. Tropico 5 now finds itself on the receiving end of a country’s banhammer. Thailand has decided it would “hurt the country’s security.”

Tropico 5 has you in the role of an island dictator who does all he can to stay in power. Thailand has been under military rule since a coup in May. The country’s leaders feel that Tropico 5 “might affect peace and order in the country.” Odd, given that the earlier games in the series have made it into Thailand.
The Board of Film and Video Censors have deemed the game to be inappropriate without specifying exactly which parts of the game are found to be offensive. So if you’re in Thailand and looking for your island management fix, you might have to look elsewhere.
