Singaporeans love puns, or lame jokes, as they’re more commonly referred to here. This might explain why Australian studio Pygmy Tyrant’s Punfound app is doing so well in Singapore—squatting in the #1 spot of trivia and word iOS games in the country’s app store. Singapore is also the only country in the world where Punfound has reached and maintained the top spot of each category.
Punfound doesn’t try to fix what isn’t broken. It has a UI identical to other trivia apps you may have tried, and no other bells and whistles. When you start up the game, you’re dropped directly into a pun that needs solving.
As the player, you’ll need to fill in the blanks and finish a pun before getting trotted along to the next. This is pretty much all the game is—solving puns. Each pun solved is stored in a gallery on your front page, and you achieve ranks as you get punnier and punnier. As with all trivia apps, you can share a pun you’re having trouble with on social media.
Punfound currently has over 200 puns and Pygmy Tyrant is looking to add more. Personally, I think it would steamroll the Singaporean market if they employed this guy:
