Theatrhythm’s new modes shown off in 4 new gameplay trailers

Square Enix has just posted four new videos that display new modes in the upcoming rhythm game, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call for the 3DS.

Versus Battle Mode

In the new Versus Battle Mode, you can take on friends or the CPU in rhythmic battles to see who can get the most points. The more consecutive moves you successfully pull off, the higher your EX gauge will go. Once filled, you will be able to pull off the Burst Attack which will get you a much higher score.

Quest Melody Mode

In Quest Melody Mode, players will select four characters to use in battle and venture onto a map filled with paths and little nodes to walk through. Each node marks a stage that will potentially hold a mini-boss or the key needed to fight the real boss. Once you defeat the boss, you will obtain a new map which will lead to new adventures and new challenges.

Crystal Fragment Mode

Like in Quest Melody Mode, the Crystal Fragment Mode will have you taking on rhythmic battles with four characters, but this time it will be in hopes of collecting crystal fragments. If you obtain enough fragments you can use the completed crystal to unlock a new character to play with.

Random Mode

Theatrhythm’s free play mode will allow you to play any of its massive library’s 200 songs. You can search for a song by alphabetical order, by songs you’ve already favorited, or even go with the daily recommendation. If you complete the daily recommendation song, you will be rewarded with one and a half times the points you will get from other modes. The video above goes on to display the four different types of rhythm based gameplay.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call won’t be out until April 24, 2014 in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS.
