You read that right. After announcing on the 20th that it wasn’t going to meet its September 23 release date for the Xbox One in China, it has now clarified when the new release date will be—the 29th, some six days from today (and of course six days from the original launch date).

Why exactly Microsoft decided to keep this a mystery until now, instead of telling us that the delay would only be this short back on Saturday, is uncertain. But it certainly gives the impression that even Microsoft didn’t know back on the 20th when it would be able to launch the Xbox One in China.
Neither the last-minute delay, nor this sudden announcement make it seem like the company is having an easy time with launching the console. Perhaps Sony was right to stay out of the region until Microsoft had tested the waters after all.
