Atlus is reborn as Sega’s newest subsidiary

Atlus, maker of the Persona franchise, has been a big name in games for decades, but what you may not realize is that the company ceased to exist in Japan a few years back.

For the past few years, Atlus has instead been operating under the parent company Index Corporation, which is a subsidiary of Sega. This may sound confusing, but Sega is about to make it a whole lot easier to understand. Sega announced today that the subsidiary known as Index Corporation will be split into two.

The first will maintain the name Index Corporation and oversee solutions, but the second has been named Atlus and it mainly focus on games. The change will occur on April 1, 2014, which is the start of the financial year in Japan.
