Tesla teases Thailand entry this month

Tesla has set its sights on launching in Thailand in December this year after boosting its hiring efforts in the Southeast Asian country.

On its LinkedIn page, the company posted a teaser for the launch only available to users in the country.

The development follows the Elon Musk-led company posting open positions for a business development manager and recruiters in the country.

As of September 2022, Tesla had 20 open posts based in Bangkok. Other positions include a home-charging developer, charging infrastructure lead, technicians, and customer service reps, among others.

In Thailand, Tesla’s poised to go up against Chinese players already present in the market. They include Great Wall Motors with its Ora Good Cat subcompact electric vehicle and Hozon Auto with its Neta V electric sports utility vehicle.

Tesla’s Thailand push also comes after the US automaker canceled plans for expansion into India amid tariff disputes. Tesla also recently let go of its Singapore country manager, Christopher Bousigues as part of an effort to axe 10% of its staff amid growing recession fears.
