One new option is to call in a YooHoo. That’s not a fairy godmother who weaves her magic wand to give Cinderella a makeover, but a beautician sent by an on-demand spa startup called TooYoo. She can thread out that upper lip hair or give you a head massage in 20 minutes flat and leave you relaxed, glowing, and ready to party.
Just launched in Delhi-NCR, TooYoo makes a wide range of beauty services available in the comfort of your home or office. And it’s available for both men and women.
The on-demand beauty and wellness space is nascent in India.
“I believe that a good massage can help you do more in life. To be able to call for a beauty or spa service at home would be super convenient in today’s hectic life,” co-founder Shipra Sharma told Tech in Asia.
TooYoo is the online arm of Tattva Spa that was launched in 2013 and operates at 40 hotels across 20 cities. It’s run by the Gurgaon-based company Elementia Wellness. Clients like Marriott International and Hilton Hotels and Resorts use the services of Tattva, which raised an angel round from Indian Angel Network and HealthStart in October 2014.
“Resort spa management has given us the knack for remote management of wellness and salon services,” says Shipra.
Marrying offline with online

The on-demand beauty and wellness space is nascent in India, where most people still prefer going to the neighborhood beauty parlor unless there is a big event like a wedding.
TooYoo thus decided to test the waters with a trial run in select areas of the Indian capital in August last year before offering its services full on across Delhi-NCR. The startup already does 400 transactions a month, with a 60 percent month-on-month rate of return customers, according to Shipra.
“We have serviced more than 10,000 unique customers to date,” says Shipra, who is an engineering graduate and heads business development and marketing at Tattva. Aditya Kaushal, Anita Kaushal, Karan Goyal are the other co-founders.
A wide array of services like deep tissue massage, ayurvedic massage, lymphatic drainage massage, chocolate wrap, foot reflexology, and beauty services like waxing, bleaching, facials, pedicures, and hair spas is available. Prices start at INR 30 (US$0.50) for basic threading and go up to INR 3,500 (US$52) for an advanced facial.
“A customer can sit back and relax while YooHoos from TooYoo transform their home or office into a mini spa or salon in less than five minutes,” adds Shipra.
