Tencent, Sequoia-backed Indian fintech startup nets $100m in series C round
Indian fintech startup Khatabook has raised US$100 million in its latest funding round at a valuation of nearly US$600 million.

- Khatabook said that it will buy back employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) worth US$10 million. Eligible employees will be able to sell up to 30% of their vested options. The company has also expanded its ESOP pool to US$50 million.
- Besides improving financial services, it plans to use the fresh funds to hire more talent across its engineering, product, design, analytics, and data science teams. The firm currently has over 200 employees.
- It added that its platform currently has 10 million monthly active users.
- In May this year, the startup closed a US$60 million series B round led by B Capital Group, with participation from new and existing investors, including Sequoia India, partners of DST Global, Tencent, GGV, RTP Global, Hummingbird Ventures, Falcon Edge Capital, Rocketship.vc, and Unilever Ventures.
