Hello readers,
One of the things I look forward to is Sea’s quarterly earnings. As perhaps Southeast Asia’s largest internet company, its performance is a bellwether for the region.
I’m not the only one who’s curious: Coverage of its latest earnings came fast and furious, with a lot of reports fixating on Sea’s huge net loss.
But financial metrics can be tricky to unpack. By another measure, Sea is actually profitable, and that’s due to a quirk in the accounting of gaming revenue. I dive into that and more in my piece on Sea’s earnings.
News reports on earnings can be dry and numbers-laden so I tried to make mine interesting with plenty of charts. Hope you like it!
