Progress Pacific gives way to easy app development in Indonesia

In the startup scene, the speed with which one’s product is launched is crucial because the landscape changes so quickly.

Software company Progress wants to play a part in this. It’s an application development platform firm that makes it easier for app developers or entrepreneurs who want to launch a web or mobile-based app in a certain market. Progress’ Stephen McNulty says that when developers or companies build apps, they have to do it extremely quickly. He adds:

[This is because] startups today quickly evolve from a simple online portal to e-commerce apps to social apps.

It makes a cloud-based application platform called Progress Rollbase where developers, startups, or companies can create a mobile or web-based application quickly.

How so? It allows users to build an application from scratch or enhance an existing application by using its templates (or opt to customize these templates) without the need for coding. Users can develop an app in this way for free. Charges will depend on the number of users that the app has.

Apart from this simplified app development, the Progress team will help developers and startups by giving advice, from efficiently using the platform to making their application look better.

Tapping the Indonesian market

Progress was launched during Tech in Asia’s Startup Asia event in Jakarta last week. The app development firm believes it can be widely used in the country. McNulty says:

Indonesia is fast becoming a hotspot for mobile applications in Asia, with a thriving IT sector and a steadily-increasing digital-savvy population.

It sees individual developers as its biggest user-base in the market. Currently, the company is partnering with universities to help build awareness among students about using the service.
