The food business in Indonesia is huge – of the 56 million SMEs in Indonesia, 70% are in the sector. However, profit margins for SMEs are low, due to factors such as high cost of raw materials from middlemen and time taken to source for products. Additionally, paying high prices for a product doesn’t guarantee its quality.

Aglonera, an online marketplace for agriculture products, aims to help SMEs increase their profit margins by lowering costs and ensuring quality products. SMEs get on a weekly subscription plan, while the startup sources for quality produce from farmers and pass them onto SMEs.

Merkle Science

Merkle Science believes that 2019 will be the year of cryptocurrency regulation. Its risk-monitoring platform uses machine learning to detect and prevent criminal activity and financial crime. The algorithms it uses also predict suspicious activity by analyzing anonymized user data from crypto exchange platforms.

The platform attributes risk scores to cryptocurrency wallets, with higher risk scores indicating potential involvement in illegal activity like phishing or money laundering. This information is then stored in Merkle Science’s transaction monitoring platform and in risk reports.
