Tech in Asia is coming to Taipei on March 17, and you’re invited!

Get excited! On March 17, Tech in Asia is saying “Ni Hao” to the great city of Taipei, as part of our ongoing Tech in Asia Tour.

A handful of Taiwan’s best and brightest up-and-coming startups will be pitching in front of a panel of Asia’s smartest investors. The winner of this competition will receive round trip airfare to Tech in Asia Singapore – our flagship conference, scheduled for May 6 and 7. They’ll also get a free pass, a free exhibition booth, and free accommodation.

Judges

Brian Yang

Brian now serves as Venture Partner in Garage+, a Taipei-based incubator funded by Epoch Foundation and leading institutions like MIT and Taiwanese tech giants. He also cofounded, invested, and advised various ventures in ad tech, entertainment, gaming, and education; and serves on an advisory board to the National Development Council. A renowned angel investor and startup veteran, Brian also co-host the Taipei session of Y Combinator’s CS183B How To Start A Startup session at NTUST, where he serves as a adjunct lecturer. Brian got his MBA from Cambridge University and holds an MA in electrical engineering.

Ben Liu

Ben Liu joined KAMIA as a Director in 2014 where he facilitated new investments in the Internet and IoT space along with advising portfolio companies. Mr. Liu started his career as an Investment Banker at Merrill Lynch and then went on to receive his MBA from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai, China. After receiving his MBA, Mr. Liu entered the Venture Capital industry where he held the position of Investment Manager at Pac-LINK Capital. Prior to joining KAMIA, Mr. Liu was Vice President at Xcelerate Ltd, where he spearheaded the concept development and implementation of multiple startup businesses.

Kuo-Yi Lim

Kuo-Yi was the CEO of Infocomm Investments, a $200M venture fund based in Singapore investing in technology startups globally. Prior to Infocomm, Kuo-Yi has been a founder, early employee, mentor and angel investor of early-stage technology startups spanning the US and Asia. He was a senior sales executive at Encentuate (acq. by IBM) and Reputation Technologies (acq. by Security Sources), and co-founder of SportsHook, a sports-focused SaaS platform. Kuo-Yi graduated from MIT with B.S., M.S., and PhD degrees in electrical engineering.

Ronnie Wee

Ronnie has 20+ years in consulting, startups, angel investment, financial services, government, telco and technology. He started his career with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) focusing primarily in Technology Solutions in Financial Services, Telecommunications and Government sectors. Ronnie was the founder of PlaNET Technology Solutions, a software and solutions company, which was eventually sold to Singapore-listed Datacraft Asia.

He was also involved in several startups throughout Asia, one of which was successfully listed on the NASDAQ second board . A co-founder of Sirius Angel Fund, a $20m angel fund co-investing with the Singapore Government in innovative, early stage companies, Ronnie continues his work in partnering, assisting and investing in innovative companies, as well as position Singapore as a hub for innovation and development through IncuVest.
