Hi there. I’m Minh. I’m an editor here at Tech In Asia but also a very active member of the local startup ecosystem in Vietnam. It’s taken over ten years for Vietnam to develop to where it is today, with lots of angel investors, a vibrant startup dealflow, and larger companies that tackle larger problems in the Vietnamese market. But I realize that the rest of Asia’s ecosystems have different problems. So I’m wondering, what do you think are your top three worst problems?
I’ll start. In Vietnam, I think the top three things are:
- A lack of basic fundamental skills at the early stage level in startups (from business modeling to leadership to marketing).
- A lack of Series A and Series B investors locally.
- Simply not enough trust and connection across the entire ecosystem.
