Is it tough to quit a successful job to build your own startup?

Admittedly, itโ€™s been very tough for me. Last year, I quit my very successful job as a telecom consultant and started my own tech startup. So, what are the challenges? I met with two big ones:

    1. Cashflow: First of all, of course, the regular cashflow which suddenly vanishes really hurts. This part is probably universal regardless where you are from.
    2. Parents: Since the day I declared that I would be leaving my job my parents got very frustrated. They just canโ€™t seem to comprehend how a sane individual like me can quit such a good job! I donโ€™t complain much because for them itโ€™s not always easy to grasp the idea or to foresee the potential of the thing I was doing. But itโ€™s been tough dealing with them.

Since I studied engineering I must do some engineering job. Or higher study on engineering. Otherwise my parents feel ashamed to tell about their sonโ€™s profession! Indeed thatโ€™s exactly what my mom told me. Everyday my father calls me to know about my business and try to find out whether I have changed my mind to start a job again. He is still very hopeful that soon I will find out about the mistake I made and return to my old profession.

Fellow entrepreneurs out there, do you meet with the same challenges? Or do you have other problems?
