More Singaporeans are spending their time pursuing life goals rather than channeling their energy into finding life partners. This much is true according to Singapore’s Department of Statistics, which recently revealed that around 1 million local residents were single last year, a 25 percent jump from the same figure 10 years ago.
But now, thanks to new tech, Singaporean singles from all walks of life can spend time more efficiently when it comes to finding love. For busy people who are still looking to connect with their future love, here are five iOS apps to experiment with:
1. Badoo

Badoo started out as a social network and dating site back in 2006. Today, Badoo is accessible on both desktop and mobile. The service has two matchmaking features. The first is the Encounters game, where you basically get to see a bunch of profiles and choose whether you like each person or not. Second is the People Nearby feature, which lets you browse for other users who are in close proximity.
You can see info on other users like their age, workplace, university, interests, and their short profile. You can also see if you’ve bumped into this person in the offline world or if the two of you have mutual Facebook friends. If you want to directly chat with another user, you can do so immediately on Badoo, regardless of whether that person likes you back or not.
On Badoo, you can also see people who’ve visited your profile and liked you. What’s more, Badoo keeps track of your usage behavior and gives you awards such as “the most chatty person” and “the friendliest person” from time to time. Using Badoo’s premium features, users can boost their profile visibility and have a higher quota to like things and start chats within the app.
Good for: Singles who love awards
2. OkCupid Dating

Just like Badoo, US-based OkCupid is accessible both on desktop and mobile. It has two features: the ability to choose whether you like someone by swiping, and the option to search for people nearby.
However, OkCupid shines in its extensive list of questions and quizzes. The more you answer, the better matches you can get from the service. On top of getting your compatibility score with another person, you can also find out their answers to the quiz questions. This can tell you a lot about the other person.
You can find out who’s viewed your profiles and likes you, as well as send messages directly to other users. OkCupid has two premium features: the ability to boost profile visibility, and incognito mode – the power to hide your identity when browsing other profiles.
3. Skout
4. Paktor
