I am Sanjay Swamy, serial entrepreneur & VC with a whacky sense of humour! AMA!

I am Sanjay Swamy, managing partner at Prime Venture Partners, a seed-stage venture fund based in Bangalore, India. I have trodden the tough and demanding path of an entrepreneur all through my career. A stint at Xerox PARC in Palo Alto provided a moment of epiphany and it’s fair to say that things have never been the same since. Bitten by the desire to create, I embarked on a journey to build awesome teams and products that took me through startups like Ketera, Portal Software, mChek and Zipdial (now acquired by Twitter) – which I co-founded in 2010.
I am an active member of the startup community, a Rotarian and a charter member of TiE. I have also played a prominent role on the UIDAI project under the leadership of Mr. Nandan Nilekani.
I’m happy to answer any questions you have, specifically on the following topics:
- Patent: Important or waste of time?
- Start-ups selling to the government: a must or nice to have?
- Do universities play any role in entrepreneurship?
- Fun in startups: the inexpensive way
- Importance of a sense of humor
- Travelling in an unplanned manner
- Community service as a relaxation tool
- Thinking up crazy ideas – ergo zipdial
Happy to answer any questions you might have on the above topics or otherwise. I will be more than interested in taking any other queries on fin-tech/payments startups and ideas!
Fire Away!
