A note for fellow indie app developers – you are not alone!

I develop Android apps. And even though most of you have never heard of me or my apps, it’s okay.

Not all of us have the huge resources or tons of extra cash lying around for us to invest in what we do. As a result of which, sometimes our quality hard work gets lost somewhere in the crowd. The big companies rule the nest, pay for advertising and top spots on the play store and our apps/games become like virtual ghosts.

Sometimes we hit the home run, but most of the times we’re all just waiting.

But, you know what? Instead of losing hope and probably giving up on your sweet product, you should focus on other things and continue working.

What do you have rooting for you? The user satisfaction. We might not reach those big number downloads or get featured or anything of that sort, but at least our work is appreciated by the how many ever people that use it. Compare yourself not with the big budget spending companies – but with your own work. Improve yourself, assess yourself with the valuable feedback. Quality over quantity, guys.

I recently released my new Android game called “Sum“. It’s a simple game that has got to do with addition of two numbers to form a sum. It’s been barely a week since I released it. However, I’d like to publicly state that I’m happy with its progress, and for me, yes it has been a successful app. The numbers are just okay by the way. The active users are just about 1100+. It isn’t an overnight success or anything. But something better has happened. It has received very good feedback.

Instead of quitting after a month because your app didn’t get 10,000 downloads or so, work on it, make it irresistible so that the next month it does. Improve the design, work on your ASO techniques, spread the word, make it go viral. But, do NOT lose hope!

    All the best! 😉
