Emerging trends of social media in 2015

One of the most defining characteristics of social media is its constant rate of change. A few years ago, it was considered as a novel time killer, these days businesses are recognizing the evolving relationship between social and business goals. It is peculiar how the evil social media has now turned into an angel.

With the trends in social media touching upon great innovations every year, we have a look at the most talked about strategies and what’s big for the second half of the year.

    Blogging

Not only does blogging directly increase your SEO and Google ranking (Google’s algorithm loves fresh, new content getting published on your website regularly) but a study by Hubspot, found that 60% of businesses who blog acquire more customers. The growing importance of blogging for your business will continue in 2015, and if your business isn’t blogging regularly, be prepared to be left behind.

    Mobile First

For years, mobile has been viewed as the second screen, but in 2015, marketers are paying more attention to a mobile-first experience, or mobile-only experience should look like for audiences. That implies independent strategies for independent devices. This trend will carry on through the next several years to come. Myntra, an e-commerce website is the first shopping portal in India to launch ‘app-only’ platform, marking the end of desktop and browser based shopping.

    Infographics

Infographics that are really notable are far more than just a smattering of pictures and charts. They might tell an engaging story — one built around persuasive data, graphics, or illustrations. Or perhaps they serve as a really helpful visual resource. While great infographics come in an assortment, the common cord is that they’re visually pleasing and designed in a way that makes complex topics easy to understand whether you’re a novice in the subject or an expert.

    Video Content Marketing

In case you haven’t already noticed, video content has been immense in the late stages of 2014. What you can communicate in a blog post can actually be communicated much quicker in a short video. Facebook recognized this trend, and have now introduced auto plays and video views in your timeline. In the latter part of 2014, Facebook bested YouTube for the amount of video views on desktop. Watch out YouTube, Facebook’s coming for you!

    More Brands Utilizing Instagram

Instagram has outshined Twitter for the amount of daily active users rising to 300 million. Instagram has also tested sponsored posts within user’s timelines, giving brands a reason to establish a presence on their photo sharing social media platform.

    The Next Big Thing

A survey piloted by EY India indicated that most of the brands are looking forward to introduce Social CRM and Social Commerce as priority on their social media agenda, followed by Customized Campaigns/Ads and Gamification. So, we’ll watch out whether these are the next viral things we gonna see on social media or not!
