Talking about blockchain applications beyond coins: Kuala Lumpur meetup

Hello there Malaysia!

We all know there has been crazy hype about blockchain and the cryptocurrencies that follow, almost every problem has been said to have a solution from the blockchain. However, without applications in real life, what intrinsic value do we have for these coins?

The Kuala Lumpur city chapter committee, along with our partners, DOJO KL and Nation Building School, has hand-picked blockchain industry players with great experience and insights on both the blockchain scene in Malaysia and abroad. You will learn the blockchain initiatives carried out locally, its use and applications, and the industries that are ripe for disruption by this foundational technology. By understanding the fundamentals better, we hope to help startups in Malaysia formulate better ideas and solutions.

To cultivate a better discussion, we have assembled an insightful panel which includes:

Mark Smalley – Mark is the co-founder and CEO of Neuroware, which helps organizations and individuals explore, adopt and implement distributed ledger technology. Having lived in Malaysia for the past 20 years, he is no stranger to the local tech scene. His thought leadership is exemplified by having Neuroware appointed as the sole technical vendor to Securities Commission Malaysia’s blockchain pilot project recently.

Matthew Tan – Matthew is the creator of Blockchain 2.0 Explorer, API & Analytics Platforms Etherscan (Ethereum Smart Contracts Platform) and Blockscan. With more than 15 years’ experience in the tech industry managing, operating and developing technical solutions for clients, he also co-founded a software development company.

Robin Lee – Robin is the Co-Founder and CEO of HelloGold, which is a Shariah-compliant gold investment app that is built on the Ethereum Blockchain. Robin is the former CFO of the World Gold Council where he was also the principal accounting officer for SPDR Gold Trust (‘GLD”), the world’s largest ETF, with more than US$30bn in assets under management.

Josh Wei – Josh is the Malaysia Country Manager of OwlTing Group, which launched the world’s first blockchain-based app for tracing food products. Prior to that, Josh has channelled his entrepreneurial instincts into launching a Jewellery Company’s expansion into China and also cofounded an encryption solutions company in Taiwan.
