I left PayPal to become COO of a startup, Shopmatic. AMA!
NOTE: This AMA has ended. Find the Q&A with Yen Ti in the comments.

Hello TIA Community,
I’m Lim Yen Ti, COO and co-founder of Shopmatic, a Singapore-based company providing ecommerce solutions to small businesses and individual entrepreneurs—from developing a unique web store to listing on marketplaces and social media. Founded in 2014, Shopmatic is headquartered in Singapore (with offices in India, Hong Kong, and the UAE) and is expanding to the rest of Asia.
I oversee sales and customer engagement at Shopmatic. Prior to this, I have 14 years of experience in the payments and banking industries across Asia Pacific. Most recently, I was PayPal’s regional head of enterprise relationship and sales excellence. I have also held positions at Commonwealth Bank, OCBC, and ANZ.
Share your burning questions with me, specifically about any of these topics:
- Why did you decide to set up Shopmatic?
- Why did Shopmatic see the need to provide merchants with ecommerce solutions?
- What are the challenges of growing an online store across multiple markets? What are the 3 things merchants need to keep in mind?
- How challenging has it been for Shopmatic to grow across markets? India was the first market Shopmatic launched in. Any comments?
- There are several ecommerce solution providers in Southeast Asia. How different is Shopmatic?
