Carousell co-founder backs $1m round of SG edtech firm

Jackett, a Singapore-based edtech firm, has raised US$1 million in a seed round led by Forge Ventures.

Other investors that joined the fundraise include Entrepreneur First and Epic Angels Network, as well as angel investors such as Carousell co-founder Siu Rui Quek and OnLoop co-founder Projjal Ghatak.

Launched earlier this year, Jackett helps teachers scan and digitize questions, create custom and personalized assessments from the platform’s library, and auto-grade them through AI.

It also uses smart analytics to provide a deeper understanding of students’ performance over time, helping teachers create personalized education plans.

The latest investment will be used to build Jackett’s operating system for personalized learning, making it available to more teachers and education institutions across emerging markets.

“Education has reached an inflection point where new technologies can help enhance the teaching process, reduce the administrative burden, and ultimately create a better and more personalized learning experience for students, at scale,” said Jackett CEO Charlotte Trudgill.

Currently, the company operates in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nigeria, Uganda, and the Philippines, having created over 50,000 assessment questions through the platform. This has saved an estimated 7,000 hours in administration time, the company said in a statement.
