Singapore: Garena is going bigger and better with this year’s Garena Carnival 2014
Garena just can’t stop growing. The big red gaming giant has just announced the Garena Carnival 2014, which will be held in the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre on June 7 and 8.
And it isn’t just the venue that has grown. Garena has stated via press release that it expects an attendance of 8,000 gamers, which will make 2014’s carnival the biggest one ever. Considering this year’s carnival boasts partners like Logitech, Starhub, Steelseries, Red Bull, and marketing agency Pixel Inc., this prediction doesn’t seem that far off the mark.

There will also be a more intense focus on eSports. Gamers can expect a showdown between Singapore and Malaysia in four premier Garena eSports tournaments: the League of Legends 2014 Spring Season of the Legends Circuit, Blackshot’s Champions Pride, EA Sports’ FIFA Online 3 Summer Dream League, and the Point Blank Triple Threat Tournament. And get this: everything is going to be streamed live.
A livestreamed four-game eSports tournament with 8,000 spectators? That’s some serious stuff right there. Previous Garena Carnivals had more of a literal carnival feel, with freebies and mini-games for attendees, but it looks like Garena is recognizing the direction gaming is moving.

Still, don’t bewail the perils of corporate sponsorship just yet. Garena has also promised that fans can still expect cosplayers, “exciting challenges”, flash sales, and limited edition items from Garena and its partners. There’s a full schedule here.
Tickets to the Carnival will go on sale at the Garena Stadium in Bugis+ from Saturday, May 10, onwards, and will come with a limited edition 320GS card that can be redeemed at the carnival. They will cost S$10 each (about $8).
