Stingy Scotsman's cheap choices

I’m Scottish.

What are you thinking about now? Well, that depends very much where you are from. If you’re from America you’re thinking of Braveheart; Asia, and you are thinking about men in skirts. England? You’re probably thinking “oh great, another stingy, complaining Scotsman!”

Well, congratulations to the English because you got this one right! I did the complaining here and here so now it’s time for some unadulterated stinginess!

I am a proud stingy bastard from a long line of stingy Scottish bastards. You should meet my grandfather who, after discovering that his insanely cheap shampoo was turning his dignified silver hair green, proceeded to finish the bottle so as not to waste money.

Say what you like about stingy Scotsmen but we look good in kilts!

Now most of the time, us stingy bastards are reviled and punished by the rest of you frivolous lot. Our homes are cold because heating is expensive, our food is bland because salt prices are up, and our cars are older than time and only run on even numbered days. But at this time of years we are gods!

Why? Because you, my friends, are almost certainly skint following the year end’s festivities and in the land of penniless the stingy Scot is king!

Christmas is a special time of year because it drains your bank account faster than an addiction to Clash of Clans and leaves you with free time that you don’t know what to do with. But fear not my penniless-clansmen, because I am here to help you negotiate this cold hard time of year with some quality gaming bargains you may have overlooked in the festivities.

Lets start with the 3DS

For $1.99 there is Gunman Clive: this cheap little platform is surprisingly excellent and is one of the most enjoyable sidescrolling platformers I have played in years! Also in case you don’t take my word for it, check out the Metacritic reviews which are absolutely stellar for a game that costs less than the price of a Happy Meal.
