Right now is as good time as any to start your own tech company in Indonesia.
If you’re longing to build a startup but lacking a co-founder to complement your skill set, or perhaps you’re still looking for a great idea to work on, then Startup Weekend 1 might be the place for you.
Startup Weekend, which will be held from July 5th to 7th, will gather aspiring entrepreneurs to collaborate together and build their startups from scratch on that same weekend. Inside that event, participants will first pitch their ideas and have them voted by their colleagues. From then on, teams will be organically built based on the top most-voted business ideas and immediately work on them with the help of on site mentors.
These mentors include Danny Oei Wirianto from Mindtalk and Kaskus, Andy Zain from Jakarta Founders Institute, Stefan Jung from Rocket Internet, and Richard Fang from Weekend Inc. Those mentors will also act as judges during the pitching session on the third day. But as organizer Aryo Ariotedjo from Grupara puts it, the event is not about winning, it’s about learning.
The price for one participant is $25 for the whole weekend. Aryo hopes that they can gather up to 150 participants. Startup Weekend events are also present in other countries like Vietnam, Singapore, and the Philippines, helping hundreds or even thousands of people jumpstart their ideas throughout the weekend.
