Top 10 Baidu Searches in China Last Week

Welcome to our very first Baidu weekly list of top searches. Without further ado, here’s what people in China were searching for on Baidu this week.

1. Cecilia Chung and Nicholas Tse Divorce– The marriage of Hong Kong superstars Chung and Tse exploded rather abruptly this week. The reasons were not immediately clear, but allegations have since surfaced that Tse was keeping a mistress. It claimed top spot on Baidu search list this week. (Image source)

2. Sun Yali (a.k.a. “Mimmy”)– Sun is a TV actress most famous for being a guest on the TV dating show “If You Are the One.” This week she released many photos of herself in bikinis, and is also involved in a lawsuit with a former male guest of the show who alleges she led him to believe they’d marry. The two are now fighting over the ownership of a BMW and other property the couple had been sharing. (Image source)

3. Wu Damu– Wu is an adolescent from Inner Mongolia who appeared on “China’s Got Talent” this week, told everyone his dream was to invent something that could turn the whole world into grassland, and that both his parents were dead. Then he sang a song about his mother. Lots of people — including the judges — cried; needless to say he made it on to the next round, and got a hug from host Yi Nengjing “on behalf of all mothers.” (Image source)

4. “Surgeon Feng Daxi”– Surgeon Feng Daxi is a Korean soap from 2007, but it was broadcast by Hunan TV, one of China’s most popular networks, this past week. (Image source)

5. NBA Finals– The NBA Finals began this week. The Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks are currently tied 1-1 in the series, which is being followed by China’s legions of basketball fans. (Image source)
