Indonesian Start-Ups – Get Ready for the 2011 SparX Up Awards

Calling all Indonesian start-ups! Registration for the 2011 SparX Up Awards is now open.

After a successful outing last year, the “digital appreciation” event is back to support Indonesian web start-ups’ growth.

This year’s theme is sustainability, chosen to remind every new tech firm to think long-term rather than just focusing on short-term goals.

This year a new session called ‘Reverse pitch’ has been added to the lineup. Venture capital firms or incubators will share with start-ups and explain everything about investors, including what makes them willing to invest in a start-up. With any luck, participants will get some pointers about whether their start-up is likely to attract investment.

There were many start-up competitions held in Indonesia last year, but Sparx Up can be considered a benchmark for the quality of its local start-ups. That’s partly because some of the Sparx Up 2010 winners – such as GantibajuKrazyMarket, and LewatMana – also won in similar international competitions. Some might say that the competition is not as tough as in the tech start-up scene in India, but the quality of the participants can’t be underestimated.

For more information on this year’s event, head over to sparxup.com. Registration closes on October 2nd.
