Hello reader,
As a writer for Tech in Asia Studios, I spend a lot of my time conducting interviews with people for the articles we produce in partnership with brands in the tech and startup space. The fun part of this process is talking to people and hearing their stories. The not-so-fun part: reviewing the interview recording after the fact and having to transcribe the conversation to craft the piece.
AI-powered transcription service Otter.ai has honestly been a lifesaver. While it’s still not the best at picking up my Singaporean accent, it saves me the pain of transcribing calls from scratch, allowing me to spend more time on stuff that actually makes a difference – like writing an awesome article.
AI has the potential to really transform the way we work, but it’s also a field that requires lots of time and heavy investment for new solutions to be developed. Let’s take a look at the investors who are putting money into the space.
Today we look at:
- The investors backing Southeast Asia’s AI startups
- A Pakistani B2B startup that’s just raised some funds
- Other newsy highlights such as Line’s plans for an NFT marketplace and Indonesia’s new rules for its internet and social media firms

Six and six make a dozen: Sharing the second spot are Entrepreneur First and Seeds Capital, the investment arm of Enterprise Singapore. Between them, they’ve backed companies such as Waste Labs, 6Estates, X0PA, and Polymerize.io.
-
Five for fighting: Antler comes in at third on the list, having backed five AI startups in Southeast Asia in the last two years.
