Singaporeans are unhappy with their ecommerce stores, study finds

Singapore, the city-state renowned for its efficient government, ban on chewing gum, and success in Asia, is also well-known for its citizens who love to complain a lot about just anything. Just ask any Singaporean and you’ll realize this is true.

Though not all complaints are constructive, business and governments must listen to and understand consumer feedback to help themselves improve. An article on Business.com highlighted that consumer feedback is great to increase credibility and compel customers to support a business.

Unfortunately, the ecommerce industry is facing a relevant issue today. A study by Bain & Company found that consumers in Southeast Asia don’t fully trust ecommerce platforms and that the complaints are typical with early-stage ecommerce businesses. But what are SEA consumers actually saying about ecommerce?

Our company, iPrice partnered with Trusted Company, a third-party platform for consumer reviews, to conduct a study on this matter. We analyzed 30,000 reviews (especially complaints) written by Singaporeans, Malaysians, Thais, and Filipinos. Here are the results:
