Sources: Freshworks, Eka founders to set up SaaS-focused early-stage fund

“Gireesh Mathrubootham and Manav Garg, founders of Freshworks and Eka Software Solutions, are set to jointly start a fund christened ‘Together’ that will invest in early stage startups in the business-to-business (B2B) enterprise software and software-as-a-service (SaaS) space,” Livemint reported, citing three sources with knowledge on the matter.

Details:

  • Former Matrix Partners and Goldman Sachs executive Shubham Gupta is the third founder of the new fund, which is slated to be rolled out by the end of March 2021 following regulatory approvals.
  • Together is expected to close at US$80 million, though the final size may still change, the report noted.

Context:

  • Apart from the investments, Together will serve as a guide to founders looking to tackle problems in the SaaS and B2B spaces, one of the sources said.
  • In November 2018, Garg and Mathrubootham teamed up with other founders to put up SaaSBOOMi, a community-based platform for SaaS startups.
