Solving the context gap for fast-growing software companies

This article is a part of Startup Spotlight, a series that features young, up-and-coming startups.

While working at Together Fund, Shagun Ohri noticed AI companies losing customer context as they scaled. Siddhant Singh saw the same failure while building AI and video infrastructure. In December 2025, they shut down their own companies to build Thundercat to address this gap.

😟 Problem

Software startups operate with shrinking teams. Carta data shows that the median headcount for a series A software startup dropped from 22 employees in 2022 to just 15 in 2024.

These lean companies must generate more growth before raising capital. The median wait from seed funding to series A reached 616 days in the second quarter of 2025.

Adding more software tools produces cheaper output but sacrifices company context. Individual go-to-market tools fail to share crucial customer history and decision-making logic.

💡 Solution

ThunderCat provides a shared execution layer that connects a company’s existing go-to-market tools. The platform centralizes operational context across three main areas, including:

  • Sales: Prioritizes target accounts, researches new opportunities, and prepares outreach based on previous customer interactions.
  • Marketing: Translates market signals into marketing campaigns that remain connected to ongoing sales motions.
  • Customer success: Carries context from the sale into onboarding and surfaces renewal and expansion opportunities.

📊 Market size

The initial target market consists of series A to C AI-native companies. With 2,000 to 3,000 global companies fitting this profile, the near-term revenue pool is US$80 million to US$180 million in annual recurring revenue.

Expanding into broader business-to-business software increases the annual revenue opportunity. Acquiring 10,000 customers at a blended US$75,000 account value would represent US$750 million in annual revenue, with the potential to reach US$1 billion.

🤝 Team

  • Shagun Ohri. Co-founder and CEO. Previously bootstrapped The Satori Studio and led marketing at Together Fund.
  • Siddhant Singh. Co-founder and CTO. Built Vinci and scaled product marketing infrastructure at Flipkart to US$1 billion.
  • Pratyush Chauhan. Founding AI engineer. Former machine learning researcher from Georgia Tech focusing on retrieval systems and AI agents.

🚀 Traction

  • Reached roughly US$150,000 in annual recurring revenue, two months into its current deployment stage.
  • Built around US$1 million in additional qualified pipeline.
  • Engaged around 15 target companies in active conversations, pilots, or partnership explorations.
