Alodokter, an Indonesia-based digital health platform, has acquired Diary Bunda – an app that helps mothers track their pregnancy – from Japan-based Marubeni Corporation for an undisclosed sum.
Alodokter has also raised US$6 million from Optima Health, according to VentureCap Insights, which tracks regulatory filings in Singapore. Optima Health is the health insurance service of Sentara – a major healthcare firm based in the US.
However, companies may raise debt, which isn’t reflected in regulatory filings unless it is converted to equity. As such, financial data from filings may not reflect the full picture.
Diary Bunda provides Indonesian mothers with personalized tracking of pregnancy and baby growth, as well as educational content and community forums.
“With Diary Bunda under our umbrella, we can offer an enhanced service to millions of mothers and expectant women, giving them the vital healthcare information and services they need at their fingertips,” Suci Arumsari, president director of Alodokter, said in a statement.
Currently, Alodokter provides a suite of integrated healthtech services including telemedicine, e-pharmacy, appointment booking, digital health insurance, and medical content.
Earlier this year, the company launched Alni, a chat-based virtual assistant for doctors. It uses conversational AI to prescreen patients and provide prediagnosis recommendations to Alodokter’s telemedicine doctors.

The healthtech firm raised an undisclosed amount from MDI Ventures and Samsung Ventures in 2021. SoftBank Ventures Asia, Golden Gate Ventures, and Sequis Life also previously invested in Alodokter.
