In brief: SoftBank Vision Fund has invested 70% of its $100b fund
- SoftBank’s Vision Fund has already invested about 70 percent of its US$100 billion fund, CEO Masayoshi Son told CNBC.
- Vision Fund was founded in 2016 and has invested billions of dollars in companies like food-delivery company Doordash, shared office space firm WeWork, and messaging app Slack. Son said that many of the fund’s portfolio companies are planning to go public, including ride-hailing firm Uber.
- Son claimed that the fund’s return on investment is “very good,” but its massive spending has raised worries that SoftBank may need to launch another Vision Fund.
