- SoftBank Group‘s Japanese telecom unit selected Nokia and Ericsson as vendors for the rollout of its 5G wireless network, excluding longtime supplier Huawei, The Los Angeles Times reports.
- The development follows the US putting Huawei on an export blacklist that restricts it from dealing with American companies.
- Chinese telecom companies Huawei and ZTE previously were 4G vendors for Softbank.
- “You can also expect Docomo and KDDI to follow suit,” said Masahiko Ishino, an analyst at Tokai Tokyo Research Center.
