Apple has been doing well in China recently. Just the other day Beijingers were fighting it out as they queued for the new iPad 2 . Love does indeed hurt sometimes. But sometimes China’s affinity for Apple can take on a sweeter form. That’s certainly the case with local cake shop owner Carol Chow, who bakes cookies to resemble iPhones and iPads.
“I made iPhone and iPad desserts because they are really popular at the moment. People all want it but most of them can’t get it. So I think it’s fun to make cookies or cakes of them. They can be customized by adding different messages.”
One iPhone cookie reportedly sells for about $35. So if you can’t buy on an iPad 2 right now, perhaps a cookie version might tide you over until you can get one.

Carol expresses some concern about imitators in China who are trying to sell the same type of cookies. But I’m pretty sure she isn’t the first bake up some Apple gear. Green Gables bakery in neighboring Japan has been selling iPhone cookies for a few years now. But they only really took off after pictures of the pastries started to circulate on Twitter, most likely inspiring this latest trend in China.
