Indian fintech startup BharatPe eyes $350m fundraise from Tiger Global, others

BharatPe is likely to become India’s next unicorn with New York-based Tiger Global Management set to spearhead a likely investment of about US$350 million in the fintech startup at a valuation of more than US$2 billion,” Livemint reported, citing two people with knowledge of the matter.

Details:

  • Tiger Global is reportedly contributing US$100 million in the new round.
  • BharatPe’s existing backers Coatue Management and Ribbit Capital are also expected to participate in the fundraise.

Dive deeper:

  • The funding round comes after BharatPe made its first acquisition deal by snapping up loyalty program firm Payback India for an undisclosed sum.
  • The fintech firm in May this year also raised US$6.8 million in debt earlier this year from digital finance platform Northern Arc Capital, its sixth round of debt financing in 2021.
