Hwang is set to join the Southeast Asian venture capital firm’s investment committee, working closely with managing partner Paul Santos. The new exec will also sit on the boards of Wavemaker’s portfolio firms.
Before the appointment, Hwang was a venture partner at Wavemaker from June to October this year. He also served as a venture advisor at the firm before that.
Outside Wavemaker, Hwang spent 10 years at Facebook, handling roles such as director of business integrity and managing director of small business sales for Asia Pacific. He was also at Google for three years and Stripe for one.
“I believe Southeast Asia’s founders are highly capable of creating solutions that can truly become global,” Hwang said.
