It looks to use the fresh funds to scale up the smart home services side of the business with new installers and architects in the region, according to a statement.

Homi also plans to launch a set of smart home products through payment plans in the next quarter.

The company is focused on developing products that cater to Southeast Asians, as most North American devices “don’t translate” into the region, says founder and CEO Amar Dhillon. It also looks to tackle the low penetration rate for smart homes in Asia, compared to the US, which it believes is due to the lack of smart home services and an unbuilt ecosystem in the region.

Formed in 2017, Homi aims to provide customers with a suite of devices that could be installed by certified electricians, as well as consultation and support services.
