Grab your trainer hats! Singapore has Pokemon X & Y launch event on Oct 12
Singapore might not have a Pokemon Centre like Japan does, but the hype for Pokemon X & Y is still strong here. The little red dot’s Funan Digitalife Mall will play host to an official Pokemon X & Y launch event this October 12.
While I’m sure everyone and their grandmother has already preordered their copies of the game and will probably want to get started on their Pokemon journey as soon as possible, there are a few reasons to attend the launch.
Firstly, stickers. Showing your preorder receipt to the kind folk manning the event will get you exclusive stickers, probably of Yveltal and Xerneas if their press assets are anything to go by. All visitors to the launch event will also get door gifts of… more stickers! This time, of the X & Y starters Froakie, Chespin, and Fennekin.
In line with tradition upheld by the last two Pokemon videogame launches in Singapore, there will also be a casual tournament for the game. This tournament is free to enter but be warned – the competitive community here is pretty tough! The Top 6 finishers for this tournament will each receive a goodie bag worth S$80, or about $64 (inclusive of a plushie – I wonder which one?).
There will also be a special Torchic available via WiFi gift. The level 10 Pokemon comes holding the Mega Stone item, which will let it evolve into Mega Blaziken in due time. While you can pick this Torchic up via your home wireless network, I’d say it’s worth popping by the event for a visit because a StreetPass meet-up will be running concurrently. Gotta catch all of those Miis, you know?
For those of you not based in Singapore, do you have launch events of your own to attend? Let us know in the comments and we’ll update this article. For all Singaporean Pokemon trainers… we’ll see you there.
