Singapore launches new quantum computing programs

Singapore has launched two new programs for quantum computing components production and talent development, The Straits Times reported.

The first program is the National Quantum Computing Hub, which will support research and train private and public organizations in using the technology. The hub will also host the country’s first quantum computer.

The second is the National Quantum Fabless Foundry, which will focus on developing quantum computer components.

The two initiatives are the newest additions to the National Research Foundation’s Quantum Engineering Program in Singapore, which launched the National Quantum-Safe Network in February. The network aims to conduct trials of quantum-safe technologies in companies and government agencies.

Together, the three initiatives will receive at least S$23.5 million (US$17.2 million) for up to 3.5 years.

According to an iTnews report, the programs pool resources from the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, ASTAR, and the National Supercomputing Centre Singapore.
