Earlier this year we covered the increasingly crowded group-buying/deals space in India. Today that space gets a little bit more competitive as Times Internet, the publisher of the Times of India, has launched TimesDeal.com.
The company also operates Active Deals, a website that allows users to get coupons on their mobile devices.
The new TimesDeal service will be available in six cities: Mumbai, Bangalore, New Delhi-NCR, Kolkata, Chennai, and Pune. It remains to be seen whether this new service can successfully operate in India among such stiff competition. But having an established name like The Times behind it should lend it some trustability in contrast to all these newcomers.
Times Internet has been busy over the last month. Early in April we also reported about its partnership with Google to stream India Premier League cricket on YouTube.
