The partnership looks to open opportunities in Latin America for Asian tech scale-ups through the sharing of knowledge and company deal flow, and strengthen the collaboration between the two regions within the field of education.
EduSpaze supports companies that address sector-specific challenges within the education industry by providing them with up to S$500,000 (US$376,300) in funding, along with mentor support and an environment for pilot project implementations in Southeast Asia.
Meanwhile, Latin Leap offers access to corporate partnerships and venture partners in the Latin American market with the aim of helping edtech companies establish a geographical footprint in the region.
“One of the most crucial challenges that Latin America faces today is the lack of access to quality education,” said Laura Gomez, general partner at Latin Leap. “The region has one of the world’s weakest education systems and grapples with high levels of inequality.”
Through the partnership, EduSpaze will also help identify Southeast Asian edtech firms that have a proven market fit that can drive better education for Latin Americans.
