Wolianxi App Helps you Organize Outings Fast

wolianxi

Wolianxi (loose translation: connect me) reminds me of Found, which is also an app that tries help users organize meet ups quickly. But Wolianxi is much more straightforward. The Chinese app follows common outing behaviors of Chinese users which includes karaoke, games, travel, and group buying collections. You can select one of the activities to start organizing a meetup. Each meetup can be made public or private.

The end result would be a list of outings neatly listed for you. Wolianxi also makes it easy for you to find friends by searching their mobile number. But the app does face a lot of competition in China, since most people could just organize meetups through their Weixin or QQ group. It would be hard to make such an app into a tool to organize all your meetings. I personally find it easier to organize one-to-one meetings via email, which means I do not necessarily have to use the app to organize all meetings. In fact, most meetings of small groups could be organized via other means – text, IM, or even a phone call.

So Wolianxi might only be helpful for group outings which are, maybe, four people or above. But it can’t be too big either (like our Startup Asia conference), which would need a professional event organizing web tool.

So while the app does solve a problem in helping organize meetups, I think there are just too many alternatives out there already for this to really catch on.
