Start-up, Reverie, Builds an Amazing Language Translator For India

India - An united country with many languages
Google Translate has its fair share of pros and cons. While it allows us to quickly understand languages which are unknown to us, the quality of translation is pretty bad at times. In some instances, the translated content is almost comedic. The lack of accurate translation is something that many Asians bitch about given the wide range of languages in this continent. In India alone, you have more than 20 languages.
But India-based Reverie Language Technologies is here to save the day, kicking Google Translate to the curb and teaching the search giant how translation in India should be done. Reverie’s technology is focused on mobile only and will be licensed to companies that deal with games, music and also telecom, handset makers, and OEMs etc.
Arvind Pani, the co-founder of Reverie, was presenting at TechSparks last week and won over the crowd with his awesome video demo coupled with a catchy Indian song. I spoke to him briefly and he explained that Reverie’s technology is fundamentally built on a lot of hard work:
Two of our co-founders are language experts. They have been in this field for a long time. It takes a lot effort to identify the grammatical form and differences of each and every of these languages.
And the rest is pretty much matching these differences to each language in India and vice versa and producing the translated versions algorithmically and in smooth manner. The other co-founders are Vivekananda Pani and S.K Mohanty. And according to YourStory’s Tech30 hardcopy report, Pani has 14 years of experience in languages and artificial intelligence technologies. Mohanty is the typography expert with a whopping 26 years of experience under his belt. You can see the range of supported languages by Reverie below.
