“Singapore-based waste management startup Blue Planet Environmental Solutions has acquired Qube Renewables, which specializes in generating energy from locally occurring organic waste streams,” The Business Times reported.
Details:
- The acquisition will help Blue Planet bolster its capacity to take up more projects and generate higher biogas recovery yields from its other anaerobic digestion systems. Financial details of the deal were kept undisclosed.
- Adding Qube’s technology to Blue Planet’s portfolio would also allow the latter to provide more customizable organic waste management solutions globally.
Context:
- Currently, companies working with Blue Planet process over 15,000 tonnes of waste per day across different projects. They have also installed over 90 decentralized organic waste units of various sizes across South Asia.
- Meanwhile, Qube designs and builds small-scale energy generating systems fueled by eco-friendly biogas, which can be used in areas where there are inadequate or unreliable centrally generated energy supplies.
