Philippine edtech startup Edukasyon.ph secures bridge funding

Edukasyon.ph, an edtech startup based in the Philippines, has raised an undisclosed amount in a bridge funding round. The fundraise saw participation from existing investors KSR Ventures and Lorinet Foundation, along with new investor Bisk Ventures.

Founded in 2015 by Henry Motte-Munoz, Edukasyon.ph is an online platform that gives Filipino students access to resources for senior high school and university learning as well as scholarships, online courses, and internships, among others.

The startup’s partners include Rex Publishing, Amazon Web Services, Unilever, Asian Development Bank, UN Women, and Ateneo de Manila University.

Edukasyon.ph said that since the close of its series A round in 2020, the company tripled its revenue and achieved profitability for its B2B division. Its platform has a community of 8 million students and is close to reaching 1 million registered users.

The company plans to use the new funds to continue doubling down on Edge Tutor, its online K-12 tutoring service in English and Math for students aged four to 16. The product – piloted in May – is Edukasyon.ph’s third offering after its college and career counseling service Finder and future skills training platform Advance.

According to the startup, the Philippine education market is estimated to be worth over US$20 billion.

“We are very excited to enter the local academic support space – a fast-growing, fragmented, and still very traditional multi-billion industry. The Philippines is now where India was seven or 10 years ago,” Motte-Munoz said in a statement.
